PFF (Pro Football Focus) is a data-driven football analytics company that serves all 32 NFL teams and nearly every college football program in the US. Their video team creates in-depth analysis and contextual insights, helping fans, networks, and teams understand player performance beyond the game-day broadcast.
Tyler Sovchik is the Director of Video Production at PFF, responsible for turning football analytics into engaging content. He ensures PFF’s data-driven insights reach fans, teams, and networks through high-quality video production and real-time distribution.

“It all started with our founder, an Englishman who loved American football and questioned the way traditional media hyped certain players. He saw a gap between perception and reality and built PFF to bring objective, data-driven analysis to the game,” begins Sovchik. “Today, we provide data and analytics to all 32 NFL teams and nearly every college football program. Our grading system is incredibly detailed, with analysts evaluating every player on every play of every game. We have specialists dedicated solely to quarterbacks, wide receivers, and other positions, breaking down every throw, catch, and decision. That level of precision is what sets PFF apart.
“On the video side, my job is to ensure our content around this information is high-quality and streams smoothly, whether we’re on NFL Network, Fox Sports, or producing our own shows. At the core of what we do is helping people understand the game on a deeper level. Fans watch a game and wonder, ‘Why did this player struggle?’—we can break that down with data and grades that tell the full story. So for us, the biggest focus is getting that content out there quickly and effectively.”
However, PFF needed a faster way to share the stories behind their stats with the world. The answer? Wildmoka.
- 30 hours saved per week on editing and distribution
- $50K+ in potential staffing costs avoided
- More engagement by delivering context faster than competitors
- Streamlined multi-platform streaming (e.g., Twitter, YouTube, Peacock, FuboTV)
The challenge: A slow and costly content workflow
Before Wildmoka, PFF’s video production team faced several significant bottlenecks:
- Delayed distribution – After live broadcasts like their annual Draft Show, editors had to manually process and distribute hours of footage.
- Cumbersome workflows – The team had to share massive files, wait for downloads, assign clips, and manually cut highlights for social media.
- Scaling issues – The growing demand for real-time football insights made it clear they needed a more efficient system—or more staff.
“Whether we’re doing our Draft Show—which is hands down the biggest event of the year for us—or covering free agency for the NFL, we take pride in what we do—we’re pretty damn good at evaluating college players and predicting how they’ll perform in the NFL,” says Sovchik. “We break it all down—not just who’s getting drafted where, but how they’ll fit into a team’s system and thrive, and share that with the world via our podcast and other media.”
“We’re not trying to break news—we provide the context behind it. But that doesn’t mean speed isn’t critical. In a competitive media landscape, speed matters—getting our content out quickly helps us stay relevant and grow our audience.”
Before Wildmoka, this process was slower and more cumbersome than Sovchik and his team needed it to be. “After a live show, we’d have to share an entire eight-gigabyte file, wait for everyone to download it, and then manually divide up who was clipping what for social. It was a huge time drain."
The solution: real-time clipping and instant publishing
Wildmoka transformed PFF’s workflow by enabling instant, in-stream editing and automated publishing across platforms.
- Real-time clipping and publishing – Instead of waiting until after a show, PFF now creates and shares clips as the action happens, keeping their content timely and relevant.
- Stronger audience engagement – Faster publishing means PFF is first to provide in-depth analysis, driving more views and keeping fans engaged.
- Expanded monetization opportunities – With real-time pre-roll and outro video insertion, PFF can now offer sponsors integrations into high-value content like the NFL Draft Show.
- Scalability without extra staff – Eliminated the need to hire additional editors, saving time and significant costs.
“On a typical day, if we’re doing a podcast in the studio—let’s say we’re in season and previewing 16 upcoming games—we fire up Wildmoka, make sure everything’s set for YouTube, Twitter, and our other platforms,” Sovchik explains.

“Before, we’d record the entire show, then spend hours afterward manually cutting it into separate game segments, uploading them one by one for SEO and ad revenue. Now, we’re clipping and publishing in real-time. When we’re done, we’re done—no extra hours of editing after the fact. Instead of being stuck in yesterday’s content, we can focus on what’s next.
Right now, we’re using Wildmoka for two of our key podcasts, and just by going live with our clips instead of post-editing, we’re saving about 30 hours a week during the season. That’s basically the equivalent of having another full-time editor without actually hiring one.
Sovchik adds, "Instead of scrambling to finish edits, I can wrap up, hit the road, and even make it home to watch my Browns. It’s a total game-changer."
Gaining a competitive edge
The ability to add real-time pre-roll and outro videos has also created new business opportunities for PFF. “For example, during the Draft Show, every single pick comes with analysis from us. Sponsors now ask, ‘Can we have a pre-roll on your Draft Show clips?’ And because of Wildmoka, the answer is yes—and we can do it in real-time. Wildmoka is actually helping us monetize our content more effectively and making it easier for our sales team to pitch new sponsorship opportunities.”
When it comes to audience engagement, PFF has gained a competitive edge thanks to their use of Wildmoka.

“We want to be the first to provide meaningful context, as there are a lot of competing companies out there trying to do the same. So being able to do that absolutely gets us more views,’ says Tyler. “Just this week with free agency, we were live, breaking everything down, discussing which players were committing to which teams, and we were clipping it all in real-time. By the time a traditional post-production workflow would have even finished processing the content, we had already published it.
“Yesterday, for example, we were live for about two and a half, three hours. If we had to wait until the show wrapped before editing and posting, we’d already be three or four hours behind. That’s not something we have to worry about anymore, and it makes a massive difference.”
The results: Faster content, cost savings, and greater reach – all with top-tier support
- 30 hours saved per week on editing and distribution
- $50K+ in potential staffing costs avoided
- More engagement by delivering context faster than competitors
- Streamlined multi-platform streaming (e.g., Twitter, YouTube, Peacock, FuboTV)
For PFF, the impact of Wildmoka goes beyond just efficiency—it’s about maximizing output without increasing overhead. Instead of expanding their video team, they’ve been able to do more with the resources they already have, delivering content faster and more effectively.
“Before Wildmoka, we were having serious discussions about whether we needed to hire another person just to keep up with the workload. Our video team is small, and the volume of content we produce is massive. Bringing in a full-time editor would’ve cost at least $50,000 per year—even a part-time hire would’ve been a significant expense. With Wildmoka, we’ve completely avoided that cost while getting even more done in less time.”
Yet technology alone isn’t what makes Wildmoka valuable—it’s the ongoing, responsive support that ensures PFF’s complex workflows run smoothly. Whether it’s last-minute technical adjustments or troubleshooting streaming issues across multiple platforms, the Wildmoka team has become an extension of PFF’s own production unit.
“Backlight and Wildmoka’s support has been phenomenal,” Sovchik says. “When we’re heading into something like the NFL Draft, we’re dealing with a ton of distribution partners—FuboTV, Peacock, Yahoo, SiriusXM—each with different streaming requirements. One wants HLS, another needs SRT, Twitter and YouTube run RTMP. It’s a lot to manage. Before Wildmoka, setting this up was a logistical nightmare. Last year, for example, sending SRT to Fubo became a headache because of lost packets—causing frustrating glitches in the stream. I reached out to Josh on Wildmoka’s team, and he instantly knew what I was dealing with. Then, just a couple of weeks ago, I asked him about HLS streaming, and he responded, ‘Yeah, no worries, let’s set it up.’
“That kind of support is invaluable. Now, instead of scrambling to troubleshoot when 30 people from Fubo’s team come to me with tech questions, I can just say, ‘What do you need?’ and actually have the answers. It’s not just saving us time—it’s giving us confidence we can achieve what we need to achieve, even when things are busy.”
Beyond efficiency: New revenue opportunities
With Wildmoka’s help, the PFF video team has seen its profile rise internally, increasing executive confidence in media as a revenue driver.
“From the team’s perspective, everyone loves Wildmoka,” says Sovchik. “It saves us time, lets us focus on what’s next, and maybe even sneak in a trip to the driving range a little earlier! At first, upper management wasn’t sure if it would be worth the cost. But now, nearly a year in, they see the value. Our leadership actually uses it as an example of how technology can simplify operations and cut expenses.”
And as for what’s next? For PFF, the future with Wildmoka is about scaling even further, particularly in live streaming and multi-platform distribution.
“Right now, we’re focused on fine-tuning things for the Draft and working with Josh and the team on transmitting SRT and HLS. After that, the sky’s the limit,” says Sovchik. I see a ton of potential in expanding our streaming capabilities, whether it’s broadcasting locally, working with the NFL Network, or adding new distribution partners. We’ve invested in expensive infrastructure like fiber optics and live production gear, but with Wildmoka, I can just ask, ‘Hey, can we do HLS?’ and Josh and Wildmoka say, ‘Yeah, let’s set it up.’ That kind of flexibility makes my job so much easier.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about time and cost savings. And Wildmoka delivers both. It’s everything I’ve needed for years.”
