On September 25, 2024, RMC BFM introduced BFM2, an all-digital, 24/7 live news channel. This groundbreaking platform allows audiences to experience news events in real-time, while the broadcaster benefits from substantially reduced overhead costs.
Built on Backlight’s Wildmoka technology, including Live Studio and Channel Studio, BFM2 challenges traditional broadcast models by embracing cloud technology for greater agility and efficiency — all while keeping the viewer experience at the heart of its operations.
With BFM2, we’re entering a new era — bringing digital-first workflows and agility into the broadcast world while operating a fully cloud-based channel at a fraction of the traditional setup costs.
In this way, BFM2 is both an editorial lab and a technology lab for the RMC BFM group, where we explore what’s possible in today’s digital landscape. Wildmoka has been an incredible partner in making this vision a reality through the combined power of its Live Studio and Channel Studio.

A channel built for agility and innovation
BFM2 doesn’t just complement BFMTV, RMC BFM’s flagship news channel; it expands its reach and impact. Now, audiences can access even more live broadcasts from the frontlines of breaking news. They can stream simultaneous live events with or without commentaries, and watch extended coverage of pivotal moments—whether it’s a parliamentary debate, a live UN address, unfolding scenes from global hotspots, or exclusive sports footage.
Indeed, BFM2 is more than just an extension of BFMTV; it doubles the live coverage capacity without the large-scale editing or technical operations teams typically needed for traditional broadcasts. Built for agility and efficiency, BFM2 operates with a lean team of journalists and operators, delivering high-impact news while maximizing resources.
When we started drafting our BFM2 project, no solution on the market fully met our needs, so our partnership with Wildmoka and its solutions, Channel Studio and Live Studio were essential in building a unique, journalist-led channel management toolkit.
We developed new broadcasting systems and a fully digital playout and master control setup to maximize flexibility, giving our editorial team complete control over the channel at all times and enabling BFM2 to operate and manage complex live broadcasts with an exceptionally small team.
Moreover, with Channel Studio and Live Studio, we can make BFM2 a live editorial and technology lab. We have the flexibility to experiment with new standards, editorial concepts, and overlay graphics, refining our approach to storytelling and audience engagement.
The platform also enables rapid deployment of new monetization strategies, such as dynamic L-shape ads, which provide non-intrusive sponsorship opportunities without disrupting the viewer experience. We were able to launch L-shape ads in a period as short as a few weeks.

Powering live news with Channel Studio and Live Studio
Channel Studio is a powerful cloud-based solution for creating and operating live digital channels. It streamlines channel programming, branding, and live management, allowing a single producer to plan a schedule, manage break-to-live sequences, and execute monetization strategies — all from an intuitive, browser-based interface. With Channel Studio, teams can maximize content reach, adapt in real time, and efficiently run 24/7 channels without the complexity of traditional broadcast setups.
This cloud-first approach, powered by Wildmoka’s Channel Studio and Live Studio, not only reduces the headcount typically required to run a channel; it allows teams to focus on delivering live content without the burden of managing complex hardware, physical studios, or gallery infrastructure. By leveraging Wildmoka’s technology, news organizations can operate with a streamlined OpEx funding model, eliminating the heavy, long-term investments usually tied to traditional broadcast setups.
With Channel Studio, what once required physical studios and dedicated equipment is now managed entirely in the cloud, giving news organizations the freedom to focus on delivering more live content, extended coverage, and engaging audience experiences. Wildmoka’s cloud-based platform empowers broadcasters to adapt programming on-the-fly and manage digital channels with greater speed and flexibility. By transforming how news is produced and distributed, it enables teams to do more with fewer resources — without compromising quality or impact.
And furthermore, with Wildmoka’s digital media factory behind the scenes, broadcasters can quickly clip live content and instantly transform it into replay segments for future programming, keeping content fresh and engaging. Key moments are easily repurposed as clips, shorts, stories, or mashups across OTT platforms and social media, reaching wider audiences and driving engagement.
At Backlight, we’re proud to have been a trusted partner of RMC BFM since 2017. BFMTV and Wildmoka have already transformed how news channels are live-streamed on vertical screens with the innovative ‘vertical mode’ in the BFMTV app, powered by Wildmoka AutoReZone technology. Now, RMC BFM and Wildmoka are once again redefining live playout with BFM2 and its fully digital, 24/7 channel with end-to-end programming and master control — delivering greater operational agility while keeping CAPEX and OPEX low. We’re thrilled that RMC BFM is one of the first to adopt Channel Studio, our next-generation live channel playout solution that challenges the conventions of traditional broadcast workflows.
